As a caregiver to her mother during a battle with Alzheimer’s, she experienced firsthand the gaps and inequities within our healthcare system. When faced with policies that threatened families like hers, she chose action over silence, challenging and defeating a long-standing incumbent to ensure that working families had a voice.
Since that pivotal moment, Lt. Governor Stratton has remained unwavering in her commitment to the people of Illinois. Serving alongside Governor J. B. Pritzker, she has championed initiatives that uplift communities and address systemic inequities. Through her Birth Equity Initiative, she has taken meaningful steps to combat the Black maternal health crisis by expanding access to essential care providers. Her leadership extends beyond policy, creating pathways for opportunity through programs like Girls Lead and We Thrive, empowering women and young girls to achieve economic independence and leadership growth.
As a mother of four daughters, Lt. Governor Stratton brings lived experience to the issues that matter most. She understands the realities facing working families and has consistently worked to ensure that Illinois moves toward a more equitable and sustainable future. Her South Side Chicago roots, shaped by a family grounded in public service, continue to inform her approach to leadership, one that prioritizes community, accountability, and results.
