This year Omega Network For Action, Inc. (ONFA) will join the active observance of the May 3rd Freedom to Learn National Day of Action. Today, ONFA stands together with leaders of the nation’s Black-led legacy civil rights organizations to draw a line in the sand against the dangerous attempts to dismantle all that has been accomplished over the last half century for African Americans.
Imagine being Ruby Bridges and reading that your story has been purged from the classroom because a white child might be distressed to learn about it?
Imagine a world in which people who’d rather deny or erase Black experiences have veto power over what our own children get to learn about themselves?
Imagine if ALL fifty states in the union enacted state-level measures that chill the honest examination of race and racism in this society?
The problem isn’t just anti-woke politicians pushing through censorship…mainstream institutions have been caught flat footed and some have conceded precious ground to this anti-woke faction. Therefore the coalition behind Freedom To Learn produced a slideshow that not only demonstrates the seriousness of the threat, it clearly shows what is at stake for African Americans and the entire nation.
