Raised in Houston’s 18th District by military parents, Menefee is a first-generation college graduate who embodies perseverance and service. As Harris County Attorney, he made history as the youngest and first African American to hold the office—leading a team of over 250 professionals to defend consumer rights, enforce environmental law, and protect our democratic process.
In March 2025, Menefee resigned from his post to run in the special election following the passing of Representative Sylvester Turner, demonstrating both integrity and a readiness to serve at the national level. His campaign launched with exceptional momentum, supported by community leaders and advocates who recognize his principled stance against efforts that threaten minority voting power.
ONFA values Menefee’s record of legal victories in defense of voting rights and accountability, particularly his willingness to challenge policies that undermine fair representation. We respect his coalition-building efforts, which have drawn support from a wide range of community voices, including elected officials, civic leaders, and grassroots organizers.
