Vice President Kamala Harris met with Black Greek Letter Organizations to discuss critical issues affecting Black America, including minority business development, vaccinating Black communities, and voting rights. During the meeting, the group of Divine Nine representatives applauded Harris’s arrival, and the meeting was described as “wonderful.” However, the press asked White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki about the Biden administration’s Black agenda, specifically on voting rights, and the urgency to address it. Psaki stated that the President is committed to passing voting rights legislation and signing it into law, but he is not currently in favor of abolishing the filibuster. There are concerns that the White House may not view voting rights as a pressing issue and is courting moderate Democrats who do not see it as a critical issue.
