On Saturday, November 23rd, Omega League OKC youth teamed up with Project GiveBack for a heartwarming initiative, participating in the Eta Iota Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.’s Annual Thanksgiving Basket Giveaway. This collaboration highlighted the power of community partnership and the spirit of giving during the holiday season.
Omega League OKC, a mentorship program of the Eta Iota Chapter, is committed to empowering underserved youth by fostering their moral strength, confidence, and capability. The program aims to minimize at-risk behaviors and build a supportive community that nurtures positive growth among young men.
Project GiveBack, an organization dedicated to uplifting communities across the United States, focuses on coordinating efforts to benefit less fortunate families and individuals, especially children. Their mission is to provide opportunities for corporate professionals to contribute meaningfully to the communities where they live and work, addressing mental, spiritual, and economic needs.
By joining forces, Omega League OKC and Project GiveBack assembled 60 Thanksgiving food baskets for families in the Oklahoma City community. Each basket included a 20lb turkey and all the trimmings necessary for a festive meal, personally prepared by Omega League mentees. The effort served 55 local families, with an additional 5 baskets delivered to Paseo Avenues, a facility dedicated to housing and feeding veterans.
This impactful collaboration reflects the shared commitment to service and upliftment, embodied by the Eta Iota Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., chartered in 1942 under the guidance of Dr. F. Rivers Barnwell. For decades, the chapter has been a cornerstone of mentorship and community support.
Special thanks go to all volunteers and participants who made this initiative a success, proving that when we “lift as we climb,” we can make a lasting difference. Together, Omega League OKC and Project GiveBack continue to inspire hope, strengthen communities, and embody the true meaning of service.
